Day 5: Puente la Reina to Estella

Great meal last night with a large group of pilgrims at the same hotel we were staying in.

Beautiful day today: the weather was perfect—sunny with shaded stretches, and only a few gentle inclines. The landscape featured rivers, trees, crops, and motorways, much like the terrain on the Norty. We met Ron as we were leaving.

We departed Puente la Reina at 7:06 AM—it was quite chilly. Exiting the town, we crossed the Queen’s Bridge (the literal English translation of “Puente la Reina”).

After a flat 1 km, we climbed over the A-12 motorway. Today’s route winds through several small villages but follows the A-12 closely, crossing it multiple times.

We made three stops today:Breakfast, Coffee and then for an ice-cream sandwich

Tonight we’re staying in a donativo hostel—Albergue Parroquial San Miguel—which is basic but perfectly functional.

I meet this character who was on his way back from Santiago, he claims to have completed 4,000 km with two dogs with their backpacks.

As well as a goat. 🤣

Estella

Tomorrow we head off to Los Arcos; the forecast calls for a hot day, with temperatures reaching around 24 °C.
